HBI Instructor Certification

HBI’s online application for instructor certification is now available at www.hbicertification.org
Certification courses are offered online in partnership with The Ohio State University.
Applications are reviewed by HBI.

The application steps are easy:

  1. Submit your Application for Enrollment Form (you will receive notification that it has been received)
  2. You will be notified by HBI that your form is complete and approved
  3. Submit your $400 payment for the course www.hbi.org/certification
  4. HBI will forward your information to The Ohio State University
  5. You will receive (via email) access to The Ohio State University online classroom system

The enrollment form consists of submission of the following documents:
Uploaded documents should not exceed 2MB.

  • Signed letter from current employer (no substitutes accepted)
  • State Education License*
  • Verification of Teaching Experience*
  • State Industry Craft License*
  • Verification of Craft Employment*
    *Submit one or more

How it works:

  • Certification will be taught in sixteen (16) distinct online modules that constitute the course.
  • You must answer seven (7) of the ten (10) questions correctly to successfully complete a module.
  • You must successfully complete twelve (13) of the sixteen (16) modules to receive certification. 
  • You have six (6) consecutive weeks to complete all sixteen (16) modules.
  • You are given an opportunity to retest (one time only) on any module were you did not receive a passing score.
