HBI Program Credentialing

HBI has instituted a revised and enhanced credentialing process.  If your institution was previously credentialed under the prior program, it remains so until June 2010.  To have a credentialed program both instructor and students must be certified.

A credentialed program must meet the following six criteria:

  1. Training program purchases and teaches with RCA Series materials.
  2. Training program utilizes NAHB's Residential Construction Skill Standards.
  3. Instructors must be certified by HBI through The Ohio State University online professional development program.
  4. Students complete the industry approved HBI online tests.
  5. HBI receives and reviews one or more of the following for program validation:
    * lesson plans
    * course description
    * syllabi
    * or other official type of course outline
    * for non-HBI Job Corps programs, copies of TARs integrating NAHB Skills Standards
  6. HBI receives and approves the completed Application for Credentialing.

An instructor may request renewal of his/her credentialed program at the same five-year time period that the individual instructor certification is renewed.
