HBI has instituted a revised and enhanced credentialing process. If your institution was previously credentialed under the prior program, it remains so until June 2010. To have a credentialed program both instructor and students must be certified.
A credentialed program must meet the following six criteria:
- Training program purchases and teaches with RCA Series materials.
- Training program utilizes NAHB's Residential Construction Skill Standards.
- Instructors must be certified by HBI through The Ohio State University online professional development program.
- Students complete the industry approved HBI online tests.
- HBI receives and reviews one or more of the following for program validation:
* lesson plans
* course description
* syllabi
* or other official type of course outline
* for non-HBI Job Corps programs, copies of TARs integrating NAHB Skills Standards
- HBI receives and approves the completed Application for Credentialing.
An instructor may request renewal of his/her credentialed program at the same five-year time period that the individual instructor certification is renewed.
